Tis the Season... for Basketball

I agree with Duane when he said that football meant that Basketball Season was around the corner. Last Friday, Corrina and I headed to Cameron Indoor Stadium to catch an open practice. I'm getting excited. It was great to see the master teach. Hush to all you haters. It's hard to get a read on a team from one practice, but the players were in shape and lining up shots.

During the session, a couple managers passed out practice schedules. I thought that their drill for wrapping-up practice was interesting:

Caught a Couple Shows Recently

Thanks to wonderful grandparent babysitters, Coco and I got out a bit to catch two great shows. The most recent being The Shins. They played at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium where you'll typically catch the NC Symphony or the Ballet. Needless to say it sounded great. They pretty much stuck to their original numbers, but when they came back for their encore, they nailed it with a cover of Pink Floyd's "Breathe":

The week before we caught Blitzen Trapper (out of Portland) at the Local 506 in Chapel Hill. It was great to see a band of 6 rocking out on a Monday night. I had a hard time choosing a song from their latest album, "Wild Mountain Nation".

Keeping it Clean

I'm already posting photos that will embarrass her later. Too good not to.

(End of) Summer Rental

We traveled down to Oak Island for an impromptu weekend at the beach. My family rented a house across the street from the ocean. Being the "first weekend of fall," it was quite uncrowded, and since it still felt like summer, it was quite nice. A little surfing, a lot of swimming, and a healthy dose of relaxing with 4 generations of family made it a great weekend.

On Saturday morning, I pulled a "Hornburg" and beat the sun to the beach. As you'll see below, Raleigh made the trip also. Gorgeous.

Ral's and the morning moon.

After he finished barking at this piece of driftwood, Raleigh felt that posing would be alright.

Not the best shot, but it's her first trip to the beach nonetheless.

Cadence's Bottle and Mommy's Bottle. They both only had one, but Dad maintained as the DD. Let's play it safe out there, folks.

L.O.W. Tee still in effect. I wore this year's shirt to dinner. Thanks to the Koch's for clothing me.

Shaka bro and brah.
